PERSNICKETY

PERSNICKETY
I COULDN’T CONVINCE HIM, HE’S THAT PIGHEADED! (Lawrence Treat 1943)
Have you ever heard of—or for that matter have you ever used—the Persnickety Word? Well to tell you the truth I think I may have heard the Persnickety Word once or twice over my lifetime but don’t recall ever using it. Probably because I really had no idea what the Word Persnickety means.
So, I opened my trusty Thesaurus and here’s what I found about Persnickety: 1. #Careful, #Fussy, #Choosy, #Finicky, Picky 2. #Overparticular, Requiring Painstaking-Care
My type definition!
[Pardon me for saying that those are certainly colorful ways of describing the Word Persnickety. But in my humble opinion (if you were paying close attention to what you are reading) you would certainly have noticed (and perhaps should take another look) below the above artwork, where in 1943 #LawrenceTreat used the word PIGHEADED! to describe a PERSNICKETY gentleman who turned up his nose, closed his arms and refused to be heard.]
I would like to say that I love my trusty Thesaurus but I think they could have done a better job (in honor of Lawrence Treat) by adding (the number 3. PIGHEADED) to their description of the Word Persnickety.
But what the heck! It’s still my type definition!
I say my type definition, because #Persnickety describes, perfectly, the way my close friends often describe my own personality. So, needless to say I have fallen in love with the Persnickety Word and will do my best to incorporate this Wonderful Word into my personal repertoire. As a matter of fact, I can’t wait for the opportunity to call someone PIGHEADED.
In case you’re wondering why I’m #Writing this #Blog about Persnickety? Well, to tell you the truth, I really don’t know why? But it might have happened when I accidentally overheard the Word Persnickety—while trying not to listen to the conversation of some very noisy ladies who were sitting next to me in the Coffee Shop.
Have you ever heard a Word that kind of sticks with you? Well, this was one of those Words that did just that to me. I immediately fell in Love with the Word Persnickety. I just Love the way it sounds (sort of mysterious like, with a pleasant flow to it). I also Love (and would like to repeat) what my trusty Thesaurus has to say about #Persnickety: #Careful #Fussy #Choosy #Finicky #Picky #Overparticular Requiring Painstaking-Care. And of course, I would like to add #PIGHEADED (which for some strange reason The Thesaurus People have ignored).
So, I’m sure you must be happy that I can feel comfortable being with Persnickety People, because in my humble opinion Persnickety people have a high sense of self-worth. They are comfortable about being themselves and they don’t waste their valuable time worrying about what other people think. And, who knows? Even you might be a Persnickety Person?
So, be kind to your fine Persnickety Friends! For that Persnickety Friend might be somebody’s Mother. And I’m sure my good Friend #ForrestGump would agree when he said: “And that’s all I’ve got to say about that”.
P.S. I would like to thank CCSCOFFEE and PJ’SCOFFEEOFNEWORLEANS for providing a pleasant yummy atmosphere to create this wonderful little Blog.
